Dr. Mijares Landin, born in Mexico and raised in Las Vegas, graduated from Basic High School and earned her bachelor’s degree in Pre-Professional Biology from UNLV. She obtained her Doctorate of Optometry from Western University of Health Sciences in California in 2019. Dr. Landin participated in a mission trip to Fiji during her graduate studies, providing free eye exams and glasses. She received the Gus Furkoitus Award for her research on visual dysfunction in patients with traumatic brain injuries and strokes. Her externships took her to Boston, Seattle, and Kansas, where she gained experience treating diverse populations.Â
